12 funny science experiments to do with your kids

Put a few drops of gel food coloring in small plastic jars (one color in each jar), add white vinegar to them (about half of the jar). Finally, pour 1 to 2 tablespoons of baking soda into each jar and you will see an explosion of colors.

2. Soda and Mentos explosion

This is perhaps the best known of all the experiments in this article. Open a bottle of Coke (rumors say it works best with light) and dip one or more Mentos in it and watch the explosion. Be careful not to stay too close to the bottle or you'll have a good shower!

3. Create ice cream instantly

Cool bottles of water in the freezer for exactly 2 hours and 45 minutes. In a large enough glass or in a bowl, put ice cubes. Being careful not to shake them too much, take your water bottles out of the freezer. Pour the water from the bottles over the ice cubes and you will be amazed at the results.

4. Putting an egg in a bottle without pushing it

To do this little experiment, take a hard-boiled egg and put it on the mouth of a bottle. Light two matches then throw them to the bottom of the bottle, putting the egg back in place as quickly as possible. Little by little, you will see the egg being sucked into the bottle.

5. Lava lamp

To make a homemade lava lamp, fill a quarter of a glass jar with water and the rest of the vegetable oil, then add about ten drops of food coloring. Wait for the drops of dye to diffuse into the water. Finally, break some effervescent tablets and put them in the jar. And there you have it, by putting a light source near the jar, you get your lava lamp.

6. Magic crystals

Mix 300 g of salt with a few drops of food coloring. Put this mixture in a glass or jar and add 235 ml of hot tap water to it. Stir until the salt is dissolved then put the glass in the freezer to have beautiful colored crystals.

7. Magnetic sticky paste

In a container, mix 60 ml of liquid cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of iron and 60 ml of white glue. Knead this "paste" until it becomes quite sticky. Wipe off excess liquid with paper towels. Finally, place a magnet near your dough and watch the result.

8. Instant granita or slush

Mix 120 ml of water with a teaspoon of salt in a zip-top bag and place it in the freezer. Once the contents have turned to ice, place the bag in a closable container filled with a sugary drink. Close and shake the container well. And here you are with an ultra cold drink!

9. Bringing earthworm candies to life

Cut earthworm candies lengthwise to make them as thin as possible. Pour them in a glass of water with 3 tbsp of baking soda. Mix and wait 10 to 15 minutes. Drain them then pour them into a glass of vinegar and watch the result.

10. Effervescent sugar

In small plastic jars, mix 3 tablespoons of icing sugar, 2 tbsp. of flavored jelly powder and 1 tbsp. of dietary citric acid. Observe the result.

Leave an egg for a few days in a glass filled with vinegar. The result is quite simply surprising.

12. Inflate a balloon without blowing

Fill your balloon with sparkling candies and attach it to the neck of a bottle still full of soda. Flip the ball over so the candies fall into the soda and watch the result.
